COSTA RICA

Some history...

Costa Rica, despite its relatively small geographical size and having only 1% of the world’s coffee production, has managed to build a strong reputation for producing excellent quality coffee, due to the variety of profiles in its growing regions:

Tarrazú is located south of San Jose in the interior of the mountains and home to famous farms such as Beneficio La Bandera, El Trebol micromill, as well as Hacienda Copey which introduced us to the most famous Villa Sarchi variety. Tarrazú stands out as one of the most legendary coffee producing regions of Costa Rica.
Tarrazu subscribes to a quality-over- quantity philosophy; its rich volcanic soils, dry summers, and towering altitude makes for world-class coffee. It cultivates almost entirely Arabica coffee, mainly Caturra, and is 95% Strictly Hard Bean (SHB).
But beyond the region’s geographic and climatic suitability for growing delicious coffees, Tarrazú coffee growers also pioneered the micromill in Costa Rica’s coffee industry, setting the stage for major innovations in coffee processing.

Buena Vista is a group of 15 producers that are located in one of the most beautiful and famous areas in Costa Rica. Their farms are neighboring and not big in size, so they consider themselves as one.
They are located right on the sides of El Cerro Chirripo, the highest mountain in Costa Rica, in the Brunca region and this community of small producers, in this amazing mountain landscape, produce one of the best coffees.
This region has the characteristics of hosting a huge variety of flora and fauna unique to the country, such as the iconic Quetzal bird, but also has the ideal altitude and weather conditions for the production of a great coffee.
All these regions and their particularities are met in “In Season Costa Rica” coffee,
brought to you by Coffee Lab.

Each farm offers a decisive role in its final taste profile:

The Natural processing from the El Trebol micromill farm & Hacienda Copey (Tarrazú) will charm you with its complex acidity and wine notes.

Red Honey processing from the farm Finca Buena Vista (Buena Vista) will leave you with the sweetness of ripe red fruits with an aftertaste of chocolate and dried fig.

While the Washed processing from Beneficio La Bandera (Tarrazú) will complete your tasting experience with the soft body that will leave the sweetness of the red grapes in your mouth.
